LPN & RN – Inpatient Substance use Disorders

Encompass Community Supports, formally known as Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services (RRCS) is hiring LPN & RN Inpatient Substance Use Disorders to work in our Culpeper office. Our full-time employees work 37.5 hours weekly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  •  Evaluates pre-screenings, conducts intake assessments including CIWA/COWS to determine appropriateness for admission.
  •  Consults with referral sources about medication and health treatment plan/order medications; keeps stock medications; assesses clients for special diets; performs AIMS; gives injections; assists clients with obtaining medications.
  • Orders prescribed and over the counter medications; maintain medication stock; performs medication counts each shift; maintains STAT box; disposes of unused/expired medications.
  • Develops, shares, researches, and provides client education about medications, STD/HIV/other illness and about addiction and withdrawal.
  • Provides HIV/other diseases as well as substance abuse counseling.
  • Provides crisis intervention and medical services for residential clients when needed.
  • Documents in clients records on a daily basis; completes treatment plan; complies with agency and regulatory requirements.
  • Works with detox tech as a team to provide case coordination with clients and community resources to assure continuity of care; Performs environmental management assisted by tech.
  • Participate in clinical staffing, shift report, and other meetings.
  • Train new staff including detox techs.
  • Administers TB test/screening to clients and staff.
  • Be available for calls after hours and be able to fill in for other staff if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree in nursing; must be a licensed Registered Nurse allowed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • 3 or more years experience in nursing, substance disorders, and/or mental health are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This work requires light physical effort working almost exclusively with lightweight materials (up to 25 pounds).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attends training and maintains certifications as required by the Agency and regulatory guidelines.
  • Have a valid VA driver’s license
