Graduating high school adults, undergraduate students, and graduate degree students residing in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, or Rappahannock Counties.

The mission of Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services (RRCS) is to improve the quality of life in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock Counties by providing comprehensive mental health, substance use, developmental disability, housing, children’s, and aging services.

The goal of RRCS’s scholarships is to provide financial support to local community residents as they earn their advanced education degrees within Human Services. RRCS scholarship recipients are awarded financial support annually, until their degree is obtained.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
- College Freshman Scholarship Recipients: receive $5,000 for academic year 2023-2024, up to a maximum of $30,000 throughout undergraduate studies enrollment.
- College Sophomore Scholarship Recipients: receive $5,000 for academic year 2023-2024, up to a maximum of $25,000 throughout undergraduate studies enrollment.
- College Junior Scholarship Recipients: receive $10,000 for academic year 2023–2024, up to a maximum of $20,000 throughout undergraduate studies enrollment.
- College Senior Scholarship Recipients: receive $10,000 for academic year 2023-2024.
- 1st year Graduate Student Scholarship Recipients: receive $15,000 for academic year 2023-2024, up to a maximum of $30,000 throughout graduate studies enrollment.
- 2nd year Graduate Student Scholarship Recipients: receive $15,000 for academic year 2023-2024.
Awards may be used towards tuition, room/board, and supplies/books.

RRCS will pay half of an awarded scholarship for academic year 2023–2024 to the student’s college or university at the beginning of semesters, Fall 2023 and Spring 2024. Scholarship recipients are required to maintain good standing with their college or university, as well as provide to RRCS a copy of their transcript at the close of each semester during which a scholarship was awarded.

Scholarship Award Eligibility
- Reside in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, or Rappahannock Counties in Virginia.
- Attend an accredited college or university in the United States.
- Pursue a degree in the Human Services field (ex. Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, etc.)
Scholarship Applicant Instructions
1. Complete the online application, and submit an essay and personal statement below.
2. Online applications only will be accepted.
3. Application submission deadline dates
  - Fall Semester: May 15, 2023
  - Spring Semester: December 4, 2023
4. Applicants will be notified of a decision:
  - Fall Semester submission – no later than June 15, 2023
  - Spring Semester submissions – no later than January 15, 2024
School Counselor Instructions

Please ensure the student has Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services listed as a recipient to receive the student’s transcripts on a semester basis.

Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services will notify the counselor as soon as award decisions are made.

Students are required to forward a copy of their annual transcripts to the Human Resource Department of Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services. Upon receipt of a transcript, the agency selection committee will review the student’s GPA for satisfactory performance and decide for future awards. Students failing to meet the criteria for satisfactory performance may not be eligible to receive a scholarship award for their ensuing school year.
